Key Bios
Jonathan Shapiro
Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan is responsible for overseeing the integration of MediaWhiz's suite
of marketing services, as well as leading the development and launch of new
and unique services that take advantage of MediaWhiz's broad online
advertising capabilities.
Previously, Mr. Shapiro was the Chief Strategy Officer of DoubleClick, where he was in charge of setting strategy and overseeing M&A. As Senior Vice President of DoubleClick's Abacus online division, he created DoubleClick's data strategy and oversaw development of new online targeting products and services. Mr. Shapiro joined DoubleClick as Vice President for the company's Internet Advertising Network.
Additionally, Jonathan was the executive responsible for developing United Media's original web businesses (Dilbert.com, Snoopy.com and Comics.com), and was a senior consultant with McKinsey & Co.
Jason Cohen
President, Chief Sales Officer
Jason Cohen founded MediaWhiz in 2001. He currently serves as President and
Chief Sales Officer.
Jason, with the help of a dynamic MediaWhiz team, continues to drive the success of the company. Jason is currently active in the online industry speaking circuit and serves as an executive advisor to several privately held companies.
Jason Cohen is a well-recognized leader in interactive marketing and has advised and consulted for leading advertisers worldwide. He began his career at DoubleClick and thrived as one of the company's top sales representatives.
An entrepreneur at heart, Jason left DoubleClick to found WiseAds New Media, the Internet's first and only e-commerce advertising network. As CEO of WiseAds New Media, Jason was responsible for expanding the company from zero to sixty plus employees. The company was acquired by About.com in August of 2000.
Eduard Kats
Executive Vice President
Ed manages MediaWhiz's Email, Affiliate Marketing and Lead Generation divisions.
Before joining MediaWhiz, Ed served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Silver Carrot, a leading online marketing company. During his seven year tenure he created the vision for, and led the development of their ad/offer optimization engine. He was also instrumental in raising several rounds of venture capital.
Ed previously served as Vice President at Clear View Technologies (formerly ASCOP Corporation), a $300 million global marketer, exporter, and fabricator of consumer electronics and electronic media, where he developed marketing & product strategies for Global Fortune 500 corporations. He began his career there in 1993 where he led a staff of 300+ specializing in international electronic media marketing and distribution.
Tom Lanzetta
Chief Financial Officer
Tom is responsible for the Financial Operations, Investor Relations and
Accounting functions of the company. His role includes setting financial
goals and ensuring the business units are operating on a path towards those
goals. Tom also plays a key role in corporate governance and overall business
strategy.
Prior to joining MediaWhiz, Tom spent nearly a decade at Agency.com (formerly Nasdaq: ACOM), a full service Interactive Agency. At Agency.com Tom was aggressively promoted, and spent his last years as the Chief Operating Officer overseeing operations for Agency.com's six worldwide offices and 500 employees. In his operations role, Tom helped lead a turnaround strategy that saw Agency.com bounce back from the dot com crash of 2001 evidenced by the company regaining profitability and industry recognition.
Prior to Agency.com, Tom was CFO of Spiral Media, a startup boutique interactive shop in NYC. Tom began his career in public accounting and earned a CPA certification in 1991.
Sal Guido
Chief Information Officer
Sal Guido runs the IT infrastructure of MediaWhiz. His role includes implementing strategies to evolve MediaWhiz platforms and infrastructure in order to align with the Company’s strategic growth plans. He is also responsible for overseeing application development across all MediaWhiz technology groups.
Sal formerly served as Senior Vice President of Technology at Miva, an online media and advertising network company primarily in North America and Europe. Sal formerly served as Senior Vice President of Technology at Miva, an online media and advertising network company primarily in North America and Europe. While at Miva, Sal helped the company architect a platform consolidation solution that dramatically improved efficiencies and scalability. Sal also worked with the Board of Directors, senior management, and the global business units to collaborate on Miva’s strategic requirements to develop business justifications and technology strategy to meet revenue and cost control goals.
Additionally, Sal was the Director of Enterprise Computing at Tyco International where he managed an annual operating budget of $115 million, and helped the company architect a platform consolidation solution for 260 data centers into 8 regional data centers. Prior to that, Sal served as CTO at New Media Technology, and VP of Infrastructure at Viacom International.
Patrick Gavin
President, MediaWhiz Display
Patrick is currently the President of MediaWhiz Display, in charge of MediaWhiz's Text Link Ads, ShoppingAds, ReviewMe, ad{net}, and ScribeFire products.
In 2003, Patrick co-founded Text Link Ads in Cincinnati, Ohio. Text Link Ads grew to be the largest static text-based advertising marketplace in the US, and was acquired by MediaWhiz in 2006.
Patrick got his start in online marketing by founding a search engine marketing company in 2001.
Andy Jacobson
EVP, Sales
Andy runs the MediaWhiz national sales force.
Over the last eleven years he has successfully launched four startup businesses in the online space. Previously, Andy was the SVP of Sales and Business Development for ContextWeb, where he created ad sales and distribution teams that monetized the company's contextual targeting platform.
Andy spent just under five years with DoubleClick Media, where he launched Inside sales, the Sonar Network, and DoubleClick Email, and was responsible for both Publisher distribution as well as advertising revenue. Andy had similar responsibilities at ValueClick, where he was the VP of Sales for the East Coast and Central Regions. Following that opportunity, he spent a year working as a consultant for Google, helping to build sales and distribution teams for the AdWords and AdSense business units.
